Fridays with Phil: Parks Volunteer Banquet & 200 Acts of Kindness Challenge!

 Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota attended the Parks Volunteer Banquet to honor the dedicated volunteers who make Jackson County Parks the beautiful, welcoming spaces enjoyed by our community. The County Executive also issued a special challenge to achieve 200 Acts of Kindness during Jackson County's 200th anniversary in 2026.

This week, things got wild & woolly when Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota jumped back in time at Missouri Town Living History Museum to preview the annual Sheep Shindig going on Saturday, May 2. The staff of Missouri Town will now be counting their sheep every night just in case!

Fridays with Phil: Englewood Arts Center.

 On this week's Fridays with Phil, Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota visits the Englewood Arts Center in the historic Englewood neighborhood in Independence to discuss art, community and more with Teresa Dorsch, Executive Director of Englewood Arts. County Executive LeVota will be hosting an event on April 15 at the Englewood Arts Center to raise funds to repair the building's elevator and open up access to this community arts center for all.

Jordan Memorial Park with Jackson County 2nd District Legislator Venessa Huskey to discuss the rich history of civil rights and community building that inspired the monument. Fridays with Phil: Jackson County Awards Grants to Non-profit Partners. Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota puts his pen to work signing grants to 75 of the non-profit agency partners selected to receive over $20 million in remaining ARPA funds. Several award recipients reveal the impact grant funds will have for Jackson County residents.

Fridays with Phil: New Jackson County Detention Center Turned Over to Corrections Staff. Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota tours the completed new Jackson County Public Safety Campus and turns over the keys to the facility to Corrections staff from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

 Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota honors a group of employees for their service anniversaries with a special pin commemorating 200 years of Jackson County (1826-2026). These employees have served our community from 5 years up to 25 years, and the County Executive thanks them and others for their excellent and reliable service.

Fridays with Phil: Polar Plunge at Longview Lake Beach. Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota investigates some brave but unusual deeds happening for a good cause at Jackson County Parks + Rec's Longview Lake Beach. Amanda Geno from the Lee's Summit Police Department and Colby Chavers from Lee's Summit Underwater Recovery volunteer for the Polar Plunge, an annual benefit for Special Olympics Missouri.

Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota Swearing-in Ceremony

Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota was sworn into office in the Brady Courtroom at the Historic Truman Courthouse on October 16, 2025. County Executive LeVota was selected by the Jackson County Legislature to serve the remainder of Frank White's term and will hold the office until January 2027.
